I spent the afternoon on the South County Rail Trail, riding north from Hastings on Hudson to Chappaqua, NY. Today was my second excursion on the trail, which formerly served as the Old Putnam Rail Line. On my previous outing, I started from Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, but today I decided to skip the southern most portion since the trail inside the park is entirely dirt; in other words, mud. The trail is a treasure. It runs alongside the Saw Mill River Parkway, past many small parks and towns. The best part is it is car-free, so a rider can start later in the day and not worry about being run over by cars as the sun starts to set.
I found snow! Not a lot, but just enough to make you pay attention.
